Police were called to northbound I-93 near exit 17 to reports of a car that had flipped onto its side just after midnight.
Robert Smith was the only person inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
Troopers are investigating what caused Smith to lose control of his Jeep Compass and crash into the western edge of the road.
